The nice thing about most point and shoot digital cameras is that they can focus very closely. In this case, my camera is between the stamen on this tiger lily. Tomorrows photo will be the setup of the shot. 🙂
all she wants to do is climb, climb, climb
When clearing weeds in one of our flower beds, I found this newly molted cicada (though not so new as its wings appeared dry). I gently picked it up and discovered how strong the instinct to climb is in these creatures. It almost never stopped moving and almost always upward. If I turned my hand over, it would immediatly right itself and try climbing up (and up my arm). Also, the grip with its feet is quite impressive. I eventually put it on the head of my tripod where, again, once it oriented itself (and figured out a tripod wasn’t dangerous), it climbed right to the top.
