In all honesty, I was very surprised to see that these shutters even worked. Most buildings in Chicago’s West Loop, at least those not undergoing conversion to condo or town home, are old, old buildings full of disrepair and decay. External elements like shutters, doors, windows, etc, usually have not been kept up since the 1970’s.

When I saw this, I knew right away that I wanted to crop it to 16×9. Sadly, because there are cars parked below the frame, the cropping didn’t work out quite as planned. Maybe next time.

A door of an artists home or gallery (or both). Outside on the sidewalk were tiles embedded in the concrete as well as some old cartoon characters painted on the ground. It was only when I looked at this shot in Photoshop did I realize that I cut off the remnants of the address above the window.
