I don’t usually photograph people on the street, but when this image presented itself, I simply could not just walk past. This elderly couple were, like I was just moments before, looking in through the windows of Chicago’s Anti-Cruelty Society at puppies available for adoption.

I think this location has a lot of potential. There’s a lot to see with the shadows of the window cranks. The shadow from the adjacent building is, I think, distracting in this image. But I’ll need to wait a couple weeks for the location to be different during my lunch hour. West Loop, Chicago
