I went looking for the Brood XIII cicadas on May 22nd when they were supposed to emerge but found none. Little did I realize the trees in my own yard would be host to hundreds. And all I had to do was to wait until Memorial Day weekend. Sadly, I left town that weekend and completely missed the emergence.
